Tommy Lee Byrd is a nationally known contributor to many automotive enthusiast magazines including Street Rod Builder and Hot Rod. He has many years of experience writing automotive articles (from features to technical how-to) and shooting pro-level photographs. Tommy grew up as the son of an expert custom auto body and paint man, and calls Dayton, Tennessee, his home.

Author Kyle Tucker and his wife Stacy are the founders and co-owners of Detroit Speed and Engineering. Kyle attended the University of Missouri-Rolla where he graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He worked at General Motors in Detroit as a college co-op and after graduation was hired in as a Suspension Test and Development Engineer at the Milford Proving Ground.

The author seems to go into detail about things that seem unimportant, while he/she skims over the real meat of the subject. Written by a leader in the optimization of engine design for modern conditions. Being a retired rual area registered nurse, I appreciate the humor.. Arrived timely and as described.What a great way to buy a book and save a tree.. Tires, wheels and engine information will keep you reading and re-reading to understand how the cars are made. The author did an excellent job of telling each space event as it effected all the concerned parties which could be his wife, teammates or his superiors. Not hard for non medical types like myself. man, i bought this book b/c of what some of the others reviewers had to say and i was really disappointed. Read about 1960 Camaro, 1966 Mustangs, 1963 Chevy II, and others.
