Loved the way it starts with the Viking raid on a village, an one man,even though he spoke a different language asking a woman to go with him, taking time to make her understand, giving her a choice. It was like the author thought "If a woman was totally pathetic what would she want a guy to say to her over and over again?" and then filled the book with that, which doesn't even sound like how a guy would even think in his own head (and yes, the point of view is from each character's perspective so you get a front row seat to everyone's thoughts).But the premise behind the story was intriguing and knowing that the next book was written by someone else gave me hope, which I found to be worthwhile! Book #2 was enormously better and book #3 even more so! I wonder if the authors are kicking themselves letting this author go first in ther series because I can't imagine that it hasn't affected the sales for them all.but then maybe that's why this series is selling at $3 per kindle book.
