When nursing student, Kenda, crashes into cyclist, Logan, on a leisurely bike ride, Kenda is horrified; especially when she finds out he is a famous doctor to the stars and this accident will lay him up for months. While Logan is upset that he will lose patients and income over this, Kenda is terrified that she won’t get a full-time job at the hospital because of her carelessness. As anger dissipates to intrigue and Kenda finally feels things are looking up, her supervisor makes a play for Logan and secretly plots to get rid of Kenda at the hospital.
"Shivers" has some scary tales that Frog enjoys telling, and Toad enjoys hearing. This is not the type of tip that I was hoping to learn.. the only part that even bothered me was the part about the kitten. This is for Lent but can easily be used at other times of the year.. Ms Lane addresses many issues with her characters in this book, trust, commitment, communication, abuse and most importantly, love of family. And one thing I really liked was a section near the back that described specific places like the Outer Banks of North Carolina (where I bird a lot) with extensive information about the birds you can see there and when. The book is done in alternating chapters; what is going on stateside followed by what's happening in Germany. They each have their own issues to deal with besides, Warren’s surprise bisexuality, which turns out not to be a big deal. There's just not that much to add to the story line that hasn't been told in the first two books.
