At 17, star defenseman Brian Thomas McPhee likes his chances of making it as a pro hockey player. Yet, a string of recent "accidents" threatens to knock his team out of the playoffs and ruin his promising career. B.T. McPhee has begun to question how many "accidents" can happen before they become more than a coincidence. But it's not a good time for questions. Not in the spotlight of high-pressure hockey. Not when the team needs him most. And not when he has some important lessons to learn about life. For B.T. McPhee, however, there is no choice. Unless the questions are answered, the team's season and his promising career will surely end.
Sigmund Brouwer writes for both children and adults. In his popular presentations to young readers, Sigmund often plays the guitar (very badly). Sigmund and his family live half the year in Nashville, Tennessee, and half the year in Red Deer, Alberta. For more information, visit rockandrollliteracy
Philip really is much more fun. Gives place for hebrew name, first trip to Israel, bar/bat mitzvah. He gives accounts of the politics and subterfuge that accompany an up-and-coming actor as backdrop for the politics and subterfuge that accompany Hollywood business. Without this it makes it nearly impossible to learn since you do not know whether your answers are right or not. The Koreans had to take Japanese names and perform the Shinto rites. Is he out? Yes. Damon's dreams, goals, feelings, and fears as a young actor with the more cured and wizened insights of a Hollywood producer and innovator allows the reader a real and intriguing (and somewhat titillating) experience of a world for which we joes-public seem to have so much, at once, fascination and ignorance. If a woman has waited her whole life, why would she then break this vow to herself to a veritable stranger? Can’t really see it happening…but this is fiction after all.
