Set in the present day and told in the first-person narrative by Toren, a shy and studious gay teen,the story chronicles the budding romance and eventual long-term relationship of an endearing teen couple.
Using the classic badboy-meets-angel format, the author portrays Wesley as a rough-around-the-edges street kid who falls hard for his bookwormish classmate Toren. I was seriously disappointed with this book. The book helped me to admit to myself that I have an addiction problem with very serious consequences for my health.
So, it happened finally that I took that step. But I don't think I'd care to read this book twice, it's too exhausting!
In amongst the daily story of his life he mixes in the scientific backstory about what he's researching, what is known about life in the rain forest, and what is not known. It is a serious work, magnificently written; beautiful, sorrowful, complex, triumphant and courageous.
