Using Holland, Michigan as its starting point, it traces racism's unending presence through all kinds of direct experience, references to other books and quotations, through hip-hop and The Invisible Man, and to Jamaica and Brazil. The book is well illustrated with color photos. However, the book goes into no detail, does not provide meaningful guidance and has no information that you couldnt find in 5 minutes on the net. Another weakness is that the essays only represent highly intellectual, academic discourse, often very personal. I have a thing again romance where there’s a guardian angel type character. The fact that this book is written in plain language is great, it makes a lot of concepts a lot easier to digest. Nerti is amazing and way more of a Queen than Farrell is a Prince, but in a good way.
